Rich Coffey, serves as the Executive Director of Finance for The Hay Legal Group PLLC . Prior to joining
the Firm, he worked as a business and financial analyst. During the course of his career, Mr. Coffey has
worked for regional and national health insurance carriers, pharmaceutical distributors, and durable
medical equipment providers. His specialties include financial reporting and analysis, process and
procedural improvement, and creating cost saving efficiencies throughout the company.
Mr. Coffey is a 2007 graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin, where he earned his Masters of
Business Administration with a concentration in Operations. He also earned his FLMI (Fellow, Life
Management Institute) designation, which notes his advanced expertise in the operations, products
and management of life and health insurance companies. Mr. Coffey is also a 2002 graduate of Trinity
University in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance with a
minor in Communication Management. While attending Trinity, he was a member of Trinity’s nationally
ranked football teams as a Linebacker/Defensive End, and was a thrower on the track and field team. He
held the school record in the Hammer Throw until 2010.
Born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, Mr. Coffey has called Austin home since 2005. Since arriving
in Austin, he has become extremely active in the Austin community, serving in leadership roles in
organizations such as Big Hearts for Brave Hearts, a Hospice Austin organization, where he has been
a member of the Steering Committee for the past five years. In 2012, Mr. Coffey was selected to the
Hospice Austin Fund Board of Directors where he is currently serving a two year term. He is also a
member of the Austin Young Men’s Business League and the Greater Austin Navy League.
“Coach” Coffey coached the Tigers football team in the Greater East Austin Youth Association from
2007-2009. He is on the Austin Committee for Still Water Sports Camp. Mr. Coffey is currently the
President of the Trinity University Austin Alumni Chapter Board of Directors and a member of University
Lodge #1190.
